I also agree with your assessment of the article. How do we begin to let our voice be heard when it keeps being silenced? What is going to have to change in order for teachers to be looked upon as professionals? I love teaching, however I feel that I cannot enjoy it at time because of all the nonsense that I see taking place within our schools. When will we be given the right to choose what is best for the students we teach day in and day out?

I agree with your assessment of the article and I found it very disturbing in terms of what we as educators are up against. It seems that there will always be someone more powerful than teachers no matter how many of us band together or how articulate we are in expressing ourselves. We have read several instances of teachers banding together and making progress towards positive teaching for all only to be silenced by the powers that be. It is hard to see how this will ever change when money and power talk. We have realized that teachers are underpaid and have little power so how will this cycle ever change when those who have the power to make the change are those perpetuating the status quo?
